Statin Research - Recent studies show no/limited benefits

Interested in whether to take statins for your cholesterol?
 
Here is a article in the June 2010 Journal of Lipid Research, called "Recent Cholesterol-Lowering Drug Trials: New Data, New Questions", that raises questions about the value of statins based on recent trials.
 
 
Note: There were changes made to Clinical Trial Regulations around 2004 that has forced research trials to be more rigorous in ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements. Evidently, many earlier tests lacked the evidence-based data and reporting that testing since 2005 forward have to abide with.
 
I wonder if our family physicians know about these studies and the controversy?
