Gene (and others):
I found another article that you may be interested in. This is one of the online doctors that i read (Dr. Davis).
This blog is about checking postprandial (after eating) blood sugar level, and it being a better/different indicator than fasting blood sugar.
I actually bought a blood glucose meter a couple of weeks ago and have been playing with it, measuring my glucose levels - even though my doctor has never said that I have diabetes (I know i'm prone to it because i'm overweight). (I just figured it would be nice to have a baseline for my current condition.)
I've also noticed that I have high levels first thing in the morning after waking up (before coffee) - I think it is called "dawn phenomenon" or something like that. And it takes a couple of hours for it to go down.
Anyway, thought you might like to read this and maybe watch this guy's blogs, which are always interesting to me.
Carl
